Cape Coral native returns home to run successful dance studio Kelly’s Dance

For Kelly Sigler, the phrase “you can’t come home” doesn’t apply to her life journey so far, but “three is a charm” certainly does.

After running other dance studios in West Palm Beach and South Carolina, the Cape Coral native and Cape Coral High School graduate celebrated the sixth anniversary of her local Kelly’s Dance! installation in August.

Young members of his studio will perform at the annual KidsFest on October 26 at the grounds of the Sun Splash Family Water Park. The event is coordinated by the Kiwanis Club and includes many activities and providers for the whole family. Studio members will perform for 25 minutes starting at 1:30 p.m. with a ‘little toddler’ routine involving 2-4 year olds, then an older band is expected to show off their hip-hop chops to music by Disney’s “Descendants 3”. “Telefilm.

“They want to do it and the crowd will love it,” said Sigler, who will also let students at Trafalgar Middle School – where she also volunteers as a substitute teacher – use some of the time on scene. This group will include his 13-year-old daughter, Darien.

“She helps a lot in the studio,” said the proud mom. “She always danced!

The non-competitive studio offers classes in expressive dance, ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and contemporary, technical / pre-point, hip-hop, acro, jumps and turns and pointe. Instilling self-esteem, building relationships and providing other tools to foster positive attitudes in the development of productive young women are common threads.

In a recent expressive dance class for toddlers, Sigler and assistant and teacher Riley Rebello led a series of imaginative warm-ups, including “bells ringing” and princess makeup. Next, several routines, designed by Sigler, include “tightrope on tiptoe” and “chuga-chuga choo-choo”. Sigler enjoys “exposing them to different dance genres in a fun and engaging way,” supported by lots of colorful props.

“Grace took a class last year and did the recital and enjoyed it so much that she’s taking two classes so she can be on stage twice!” said Grace’s mother, 4, Heather Gomes. The next studio recital will be in June.

Kelly’s dance! members will also bring the joy of their performance skills to several assisted living facilities in December, fulfilling Sigler’s goal of seeing his students give back to the community.

The dynamic when Sigler meets his dance students in Trafalgar is always pleasant.

“We are always delighted to see each other,” said Sigler. “They’re going to turn the corner and see me and say ‘Ms. Kelly is our sub today!’”

The other instructors are Melissa Horvath, Patti Hunt, Marybeth Goldman and Suzanne Dzija. Adult fitness sessions are also offered in barre, Pilates, Vinyasa flow and Zumba.

Sigler is delighted to share dance movements on the grounds of her childhood.

” The circle is complete. I had been gone for over 20 years. I’m so glad to be back. I even teach the kids of high school buddies!
