The Stepping Stones Museum For Children in Norwalk kicks off the weekend with a show that will put a smile on the face of the whole family. On Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., CactusHead Puppets bring Bremen City Musicians to life – the hilarious story of four farm animals who set off to Bremen to pursue their dreams of stardom. This production features adorable rod puppets, elaborate shadow scenes, and CactusHead Puppets’ signature sense of humor.
Saturday at 2:00 p.m., you will have your choice between two musical competitions! Attend the annual Grand CT Youth Orchestras Concerto Competition at Southport’s Pequot Library, with eight principal musicians from the orchestra competing on violin, cello and flute for a $500 prize and the chance to compete perform as a soloist at the spring concert. Or head to the Norwalk Concert Hall for the 10th Final of the Norwalk Symphony’s Young Artist Concerto Competition, where ten young musicians who have passed the competition’s first stage will compete for the chance to perform on March 20 with the Norwalk Symphony at the Music for All Ages concert.
At 4:00 p.m. on Saturday is the opening reception of the exhibition for the 42nd Annual Photography Exhibition at the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan. Juried by award-winning photographer PLATON, the exhibition features a selection of images chosen from submissions by professional, amateur and student photographers.
Four of the funniest women on the New York comedy scene take the stage at the Fairfield Comedy Club on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Join Ankara Savona, Christine MeEhan-Berg, Ashley Austin Morris and Calise Hawkins for Not a Clam Bake LIVE! as they bring their brand of “anything goes” comedy to Connecticut. Get ready for an unforgettable comedy night as these ladies come together to burst into laughter.
